Making your Digital Christmas Cards with CTMH ~ Studio J

After seeing Brae's digital CTMH Studio J Christmas cards, I though WOW I can get all my Christmas cards done in under 1 hour. Best part is, they will be delivered right to my home. I've always loved the digital Christmas cards but not the on-line selections or the limitations.  So, I got to play with the pattern paper I love and custom create my very own digital cards.

If you want to try this for yourself take a look at Brae's full instructions.  Very easy and fun, again the best part was print 5 copies please and voilà, 40 digital cards in under 1 hour.

I even had the time to complete a double page layout, now that's being productive ;-)

7th annual Christmas Card Workshop 2013

This year YOU decide,  make 15, 30 or all 45 cards.  Please see the list of materials you will need to complete all three sets.  You can select 1, 2 or all 3.  If you decide to make more then 15 cards, you will need one Colonial White Value Pack Card Bases and Envelopes(50) X1410.  The Twilight option was inspired by Vicki.  Since you have two B&T Frosted papers in the original kit, you can make them all.  I followed Vicki's lead and used Barn Red and Cocoa.  If you like the more traditional Reds and Greens, option 1 is for you.  Or the cool Blues, featured in option 2.  Or even the more masculine Browns in option 3.

This is the original cardmaking kit.

Laughing Lola - Monthly Workshop

This paper is awesome from the satin paper clip bows to the printed gems the possibilities are endless. Here is my take on the workshop on the go.

Workshop Layout 1 - featured in the workshop kit

Modifications to the original layout:
  • Used the Laughing Lola Purple B&T paper for Accent 1 & 2 (two bottom pieces)
  • Used a 7x5 photo on the right page
  • Double matted all photos using Laughing Lola purple and black 1/8” wide for the 5x7 photo and 1/16” for the 4x3 photos
  • Ink distressed pieces with Slate
  • Ink distressed photos with Black
  • Stamp flower image in the left corner of the base page and the right corner of the right using Slate
  • Using Bamboo cardstock instead of the Laughing Lola Gold for stamped images
  • Used Black mini medley instead of Black Hem
Workshop Layout 2 - Make It from Your Heart vol.1 pattern 6
Assembling details:
  • Use information on page 16 of Make It from Your Heart Volume 1. Pattern 6.
  • Combine the following pieces and cut using Bamboo or Laughing Lola Gold. 8-1/4” x 6-1/8” for the left side and 8-1/4” x 8” for the right side (optional, it was just easier to work with one piece)
  • (Double check the actual size of your 4x6 photo as some sizes vary, adjust the width accordingly).
  • Cut leopard print zip strip at 7"
  • Round two corners of D, F, and K, if desired
  • Sponge-distress edges of pieces with Slate ink
  • Sponge-distress edges of photo with Black StazOn ink
  • Use the Laughing Lola Dimensional Complements
Workshop Layout 3 - Make It from Your Heart vol.2 pattern 15

Assembling details:

1. Use diagram from the MIFYH vol.2 booklet page 34;
2. Using Whisper cardstock for your bases;
3. Ink distress all pieces including photos using Slate;
4. Starting from the bottom working your way up the page by layering your cut B&T papers and Black Shimmer Tape, add the last B&T paper flush at the top of the page and insert your last piece of Black shimmer tape. This last piece of tape will overlap slightly.
5. I added one extra piece (the decorative border) beside piece G and Q
6. All photos have a 1/16” mat using Gypsy cardstock

Magic Potion Treat Holder Tutorial

Like most of you, when I saw this very cute Halloween holder on page 85 of the Fall/Winter Idea Book, I just had to make one. I decided to do the holder part without the Cricut. Need to up my skills in the CCR. After looking around this is what I found. It’s a twist on the Milk Carton Carrier by Jo Dumbleton.  I've also increased the height the handle by 1" extra inch to see it better.

CTMH Halloween tutorial

BOX: cut 2 pieces of cardstock @ 8-1/2" x 2-1/4"
HANDLE: cut 2 pieces of cardstock @ 6-7/8" x 3-3/4"
INSIDE: cut 2 pieces of cardstock @ 7” x 1-3/4”
1. Score box pieces @ 2 3/8" and 6 1/8". Then score ½” from both sides and across the bottom
2. Score handle pieces @ 1 7/8"
3. Score inside pieces @ 1-5/8” from both sides.
STEP 3 – Making the box piece
1. Fold on all the score lines;
2. Cut out the small corners as shown;
3. Make two, 1/2" cuts on the score lines as shown.
STEP 4 – Making the handle
a) Mark the center and down ½”, then punch using a 1-1/8” circle punch through both handle pieces;
b) Using a corner rounder, round off both top corners;
c) Fold on the score line so it comes up. Set aside.
STEP 5 - Inside Piece
a) Make the center of this piece on the underside, place your punch directly against the score line and punch holes in both pieces;
b) Fold both sides.

STEP 6– Assembling
a) Add Bonding Memories glue to each tab (box piece).
b) Take the handle piece, place it in the center of the box piece on the 1/2” fold. Wrap the box around the handle;
c) Add some Bonding Memories glue on each flap of the inside piece and insert in box.
STEP 7 - Putting it all together
Take your two holders, add plenty of strong adhesive on the back side and stick them together.
Voilà, you have your very own holder ready to decorate.
PS:  Before securing your two holders, place your stamps tree image and moon in between ;-)

STEP 8 – Decorating pieces
a) Using the Cricut Artiste cartridge cut out all tags and stamp using black ink;
b) Ink distress all edges of your holder using Black ink;
c) Cut 2 pieces of Sarita Goldrush B&T @ 1-3/4” x3-3/4”;
d) Using the Cricut Artbooking cartridge  p.71 - Spooky Overlay cut @3-1/2”, add to one side of the holder;
e) Usint the Cricut Artbooking cartridge p.71 – Icon (bat) cut 2 @ 1” and 2 @ ¾”, add on either sides of the moon.
