Expecting Baby Book

When I was asked if I had any ideas for a baby memories keepsake book, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I had seeing this wonderful book made by: Kelly English-Triggs and was dying to make one. I also found more inspiration from Pat Pobst, thanks ladies for sharing your wonderful work.

I made this book for my SIL’s BFF. Not only did we make this together but we also got to spend the day together which is a rare thing. Scrapbooking is not only for the wonderful memories you create but it’s also the quality time spent with people you love.

Calendar Page ~ December 2008

Wow, one full year is already gone. 2008 was a good year, lots of changes for my family and I and for lots for my friends too! Not all changes were good but for the most part I'd say 2008 will be one of those year we'll remember.

Now that my calendar is almost done, I'll take it down form it's place of honor and add a second page for which month to complete one full year of memories. I decided to keep it simple and work with level 1 "Let's get Together" collection. I don't think all get to it any time soon. But once I'm all set-up in the new home you can bet I'll be working on completing this great keepsake.

It's funny not only is the year almost done but my choice of colour combination is also done, you see I used this paper as an inspiration to paint my Scrapbooking room.

I'm thinking "Emporium" might be my next choice for the new room. Who knows?

Christmas Cards ~ Creative Basic Collection

I’m in true denial, Christmas is just around the corner, we sold our house and I’m moving at the end of January. Here I am still making Christmas cards and with the Canada Post strike I’m not even sure if they’ll deliver them this year.

The thought of packing up the entire house and MY SCRAPBOOKING room is just too much. What do I pack first?

Anyways, these latest cards were done with the Creative Basics ~ Evensong Collection (too bad we’re all out) it was lovely paper. As you can see I used the same template as before, just different papers.

Did I mention moving in January! I guess I'll start packing tomorrow or should I go Christmas shopping or should I start shopping for a new kitchen for the new place. You thought you had a full month!!!!

My Christmas Card Workshop ~ Perfect Day

I'm sooo glad I started working on this workshop in September, I'm really pleased with the results. All sets turned out great. I had a great turn out 20 ladies attended this workshop. They worked very hard on completing two of their favorite sets, the most popular set was Notebook ~ Shining Star. The second most popular was Aspen ~ All Decked Out.

Next year I might simply my workshop a little, 20 cards in one day is a little much, especially with all the cutting involved.

This first set of 10 cards is made with the same paper, since the B&T sheets from CTMH are double sided you get two vary different looks from the same sheet of paper.

Supplies used for the first set:
Papers: Perfect Day ~ front side
Cardstock: Tulip & Cocoa
Papers: Perfect Day ~ back side
Cardstock: Juniper & Cocoa
Stamp set: Evengreen
Inks: Juniper & Cocoa
Embellishments: Cocoa ribbons, Natural Twill

My Christmas Card Workshop ~ Evensong

This second set of 10 cards is made with the same paper, since the B&T sheets from CTMH are double sided you get two vary different looks from the same sheet of paper.

This set wasn't as popular but once the ladies actually saw it all done up, three people asked for a third set to complete at home, they even bought the December Word Puzzle stamp set.

Supplies used for the second set:
Papers: evensong ~ front side
Cardstock: Sorbet, Olive and New England Ivy

Papers: evensong - back side
Cardstock: Olive & New England Ivy

Stamp set: December Word Puzzle

Embellishments: Olive & New England Ivy ribbons,
Colonial Brads, mini sparkles, sorbet brads & Olive waxy flax

My Christmas Card Workshop ~ Notebook

This third set of 10 cards was top of the list, I wasn't sure with the use of black but everyone thought it was really different and 16 out of 20 select this set.

Supplies used for the third set:
Papers: Notebook ~ front side
Cardstock: Holly Hock, Desert Sand & Black

Papers: Notebook - back side
Cardstock: Crystal Blue, Desert Sand & Black

Stamp set: Shining Star

Inks: Desert Sand & Black
Embellishments: Mini Sparkles, Black Bitty Brads

My Christmas Card Workshop ~ Aspen

This last set of 10 cards was a favorite with the ladies, it was time consuming, with the stamping and the cutting but the results were amazing. Everyone enjoyed dressing up this little guy from the hats to the mitts he's just allot of fun to make.

Supplies used for the fourth set:
Papers: Aspen ~ front side
Cardstock: Outdoor Denim & Twilight

Papers: Aspen ~ back side
Cardstock:Twilight & Crème Brulée

Stamp set: November SOTM ~ All decked Out

Embellishments: Mini Sparkles, Twilight & Colonial White ribbons, a little Liquid Appliqué, Colonial White & Outdoor Denim Brads, Natural Twill

Quick Halloween Card

Just playing around with my new stamp set " Creepy Cobwebs" from CTMH. I has going to teach this to my group of seniors at the retirement home but with the purchase of the new house and the cleaning up of my home, time just got away from me. I simply used some papers I had around and pre-made cards from Micheals, it's a 5x7 card.

Halloween was cut a little short this year but we'll go it right next year!!!

Calendar Page ~ October/November

OMG!!!! My life is under going major changes, like people say: "Change is good!" It's just happened way too fast. It all started on October 19th, a Real Estate Person knocked on our door and simply asked: " Would you like to sell your home?" and to that I said: " You need to find me one first."

Well, she did!!!!! I remember telling my husband it's just three houses, as if we're going to like one of them. We did, this house is great, I'll have room to teach my workshop right at home.

The last 3 weeks have been crazy, talking to lawyers, bankers, contractors etc.. We had one week to stage our home and put it up for sell. Oh! yeah! and replace the roof, and paint and and.... It's funny how we live with imperfection but when selling your home everything needs to be done.

We managed to celebrate Halloween with the girls... My scrapbooking room has never looked so clean. Makes it hard to work on projects.

9 x9 Accordion Album for Karrie

Last May my very good friend Karrie got married. It was a beautiful ceremony not only did she marry her True Love Kevin but together they with their three beautiful daughters became one wonderful family. As I think back on my own Wedding Day, it takes forever to plan and seems like minutes to celebrate. The hold day usually goes by way too fast . We took lots of photos that day with this showcase album in mind. Karrie was extremely surprised and grateful for this keepsake. I had a great time making it. This is one of the many reasons why I LOVE Scrapbooking.

Supplies used for this project:
My Creations Memory Showcase 9x9 accordion album
Paper Pack: Silhouette ~ level 2 & Creative Basics Collection
Cardstock: Colonial White, Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf & Black
Inks: Black, Bamboo & desert Sand
Stamp sets: Joy Forever

Envelope Purse ~ Let's Get Together

I've been working on this Envelope Purse for my last Hostess Club workshop. This project will complete my 10 month run with these wonderful ladies. They are always ready to create new things and are extremely great crafters.

After seeing the new Autumn/Winter CTMH catalogue I had to make this project with the new "Perfect Day" papers. Like most papers it's even better when you see it.... With my busy schedule which included; back to school and dance I had no choice but to start creating this project without my new stash :-(

So I made my Envelope Purse with my thyme paper "Let's Get Together". Thyme paper you say: Yes, last year I used this paper and painted my small Scrapbooking room. The Cranberry, Buttercup and Garden Green makes a wonderful colour combination in my cozy room.

If I'm lucky one of my HC ladies will let me post to final creation with the Perfect Day papers.

Supplies used for this project:
Cardstock: Cranberry, Buttercup & garden Green
Papers: Let's Get Together
Stamp set: treasure Life & Annotations

Only a few pages left in my calendar. I plan to transfer these calendar pages into our Family Scrapbook. I'll be using the Reflections Scrapbook Program book to find companion layout to complete monthly double pages from last year's photos.

50th Birthday Card/Cake

This is a first for me.... A card transformed into a cake.... My BFF asked me to create an invitation card for her hubby's 50th Birthday party. We made a night of it and completed 25 cards. Everyone loved the invitation, I thought it would be cool to try and re-create this card into an actual cake. No I didn't make the cake but the result was really good. The cake was created by my local bakery: Orleans Bakery

Supplies used for this card:
Cardstock: Daisy White & Cranberry

August is very busy around here we got back from our very wet holidays and we celebrated Jade's 8 Birthday. Summer here has been touch and go lots of rain and mostly cloudy days. I really need to follow their lead, I'll be off next week and yes I'm still wishing for SUNNY days!

A Thank-You Gift for my Daycare Providers

These are the thank-you "MERCI" waterfall books I completed for the three most wonderful ladies in my youngest daughter's life. These ladies have been there for the last two years taking care of my little one. I wanted to take the time and prepare something for them.

Father's Day Card

This was lots of fun to make, a little tricky but after watching a few "You Tube" tutorials it turned out. I was able to show off lots of techniques such as: sand distress to reveal the white core of the CTMH card stock, using the CTMH edge distressor and stamping on twill.

Highland First Steps Exam 2008

When we started dance classes I didn't think Jade would pick Highland as her main class. She simply love her class and especially her teacher. It's funny the ballet, jazz and hip hop classes are full yet a special hand full of wee girls will fling to their hearts content... We had a wonderful year and tomorrow is the big show.

I love experiencing life all over through my daughters. At time it can be a real challenge between work, home and play but like I always say you only live once, so why not go for it!

Calendar Page ~ June 2008

Ooops, I'm a little behind on my posts... June is here and so is the SUN. This month we celebrate my husband's Birthday, Father's Day, Jade's Highland dance recital and the END of grade 2. I'm looking forward to a nice Summer with my family and some quiet evenings...

Silhouette Dress Card

This is a Wedding card I made for my very good friend Karrie. She got married yesterday and the ceremony was simply beautiful.

Ok, so how many of you think this way, at the Wedding as the Wedding party came in and I saw the colours for the first time my head automatically when into Scrapbooking mood. The colours were great, the Bride was in a beautiful Colonial White gown, her girls were wearing Crystal Blue and the very cute Flower girl had a Colonial White dress with Sweet Leaf trim... All the guys were in Black. I can`t wait to start working on her 9x9 Album, I`ll be using the Silhouette papers of course.

Thank you Kelly for sharing this great dress card it was a lot of fun to make.

I used the Silhouette basic page paper & vellum for the skirt. It’s a 5 x 7 card but the front is 4 x 7 there's a 1" flap on the back for the border The Soul Mates stamp set is a perfect match for this paper.

The Scrapbooker's 12 Step Program!

When leaving home, always vow that you won't end up at a local scrapbook store or other craft store. Repeat these words, "I have too many supplies, and I will not buy anymore. I have to use what I have. Unless of course, there is a great sale and a new product I just have to try!"

  1. Rearrange all your scrapbook supplies in your area so that there is no room to put anymore stuff in without having to buy new organization.
  2. Always wear clothes with pockets when leaving home in case you should end up at a local scrapbook store or other craft store - this is so that you'll always have a place to keep your hands at all times - this ensures that you will not handle the pretty papers and play with all the fun tools. Might want to keep a washcloth in there too, to wipe up any drool that accumulates from your wishful thinking.
  3. Never, ever, ever, obey the request of a sales lady to "Feel free to try out the different scrapbook tools!" Crops can be bad too. That's where some of my greatest, UNUSED tools stemmed from!
  4. Never make eye contact with a sales lady. Never look directly at the papers.
  5. Always take your spouse or a friend with you if you can't resist going to a local scrapbook store or craft outlet, they can remind you that you don't need anymore supplies!!
  6. Never pick up or subscribe to a scrapbook trade magazine. This can be hazardous to your health, and the health of your family. They may look innocent, but the magazines are full of the newest supplies and they WILL call out to you! Before you know it, you will have all those products sitting there collecting dust!
  7. Do not look at all your supplies before leaving the house as they will remind you that you don't have the latest and greatest trendy stuff!
  8. Don't dress poorly in hopes that store owners won't trust your check or credit card, Scrapbooker's are typically honest people and it won't work! Many of us just don't dress that great every time we leave the house because we are mothers, wives and busy all the time! This is not a good method!
  9. Do not rely on prayer alone to help as, God loves memories too. After all, He is the creator of many!
  10. Promise yourself that you will look at every patterned paper before buying any. This may slow you down a bit. And make the decision a little harder!
  11. Never, ever touch a computer and especially not one that connects to the Internet! There are all kinds of scrapbooking websites and online stores in there just waiting for you.

If all fails, run home immediately, and create a layout using what you already have!
